The Chicago Photography Center was founded in mid-2002
by a group of photographers and students. The Center's Program Director, Richard Stromberg,
taught photography at the Jane Addams Center in Lakeview for more than 30 years.
The Center's mission is to provide a vibrant and flexible learning environment for emerging
and accomplished photographers throughout the Chicago area
The Chicago
Photography Center is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation. Our new facility houses darkrooms,
a gallery, a lighting studio and classroom space. We offer weekday evening classes and
single-session workshops on evenings and Saturday mornings.

Each class has a minimum of 3 maximum of 6 students.
A typical class usually consists of individuals painting at different levels:
from the beginner with no previous art experience , but who is seriously interested in
understanding the medium, to those who have developed a body of work and are exploring
exhibition possibilities.
